Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Sober Since ("Sober Since", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Sober Since mobile application (the "App") or visit sobersince.app (the "Website").

1. Who Is Responsible

The data controller is Rohan Taneja, Flottwellstr. 21, 10785 Berlin, Germany. You can contact us at [email protected].

2. App Data Stored on Your Device

Sober Since does not require a user account and does not operate a remote database for your sobriety progress. Your sobriety date, streak, progress metrics, private notes, and sobriety history are stored locally on your device.

We do not receive this locally stored progress data unless you choose to include it in a support message. You can remove local App data using controls made available in the App or by deleting the App, subject to your device's backup and restore behavior.

3. Advertising Measurement and App Configuration

On iPhone, we ask for Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission when you launch the App. If you allow tracking, we use Tenjin to measure which advertising campaigns lead to installs, App sessions, and purchases. Tenjin may process advertising and vendor identifiers, an installation identifier, IP address, approximate country or region, device and App information, timestamps, and campaign attribution data. This information can be linked with advertising-network data to measure our campaigns.

This advertising measurement is optional and based on your consent. If you decline, Tenjin is not initialized. You can change your choice in iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. When you return to the App after withdrawing permission, it stops Tenjin collection and requests removal of linked attribution identifiers from RevenueCat. Withdrawal does not automatically delete information already processed. You can contact us to request deletion. Purchases and the App's core features do not depend on allowing tracking.

Android does not use Tenjin advertising measurement or collect advertising identifiers for it, and Android purchases are not forwarded to Tenjin. We do not send sobriety dates, drinking amounts, spending estimates, notes, history, or calculated progress to Tenjin.

On both platforms, we use Google Firebase Remote Config to deliver operational settings, including maintenance notices. Firebase processes an installation identifier, country and language information, time zone, App and operating-system information, and technical service information. This supports App operation and service reliability; it does not upload your sobriety progress.

4. Purchases and Subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We use RevenueCat to manage purchase entitlements and subscription status. RevenueCat may process an App-generated identifier, product and entitlement information, purchase receipts, transaction dates, and subscription status, as well as technical App and device information. We use this information to provide paid features, validate purchases, prevent fraud, and understand subscription performance. We do not receive your full payment-card details.

If you allow tracking on iPhone, we link device and Tenjin installation identifiers in RevenueCat so that it can forward purchase and renewal information, including product, transaction time, currency, and revenue, to Tenjin for advertising measurement. Renewals may be reported while the App is closed. Our app-generated purchase identifiers do not require an account or your name, but can still distinguish an installation or customer and are not a guarantee of anonymity.

5. Website Hosting and Analytics

The Website is hosted using Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process technical request information such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, and security or diagnostic data to deliver and protect the Website.

We do not use the Website to create user accounts or collect sobriety progress.

The Website savings calculator runs in your browser. We do not save its inputs in cookies or browser storage, send them to our servers, or include them in analytics events. Values reset when the page reloads.

6. Support Messages

If you email us, we process your email address and the content of your message to respond, troubleshoot issues, and keep an appropriate record of the conversation. Please do not send health information or other sensitive information unless it is necessary for your request.

7. Service Providers and International Transfers

We use Apple, Google (including Firebase), RevenueCat, Cloudflare, and our email provider to operate the App and Website. Tenjin receives the optional iPhone advertising measurement described above. Relevant notices: RevenueCat, Firebase, Tenjin, and Cloudflare. Providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where required, international transfers are covered by applicable transfer mechanisms, such as standard contractual clauses.

We process purchase information as necessary to perform our contract with you, and operational and support information for our legitimate interests in providing, securing, and maintaining the service. We also retain records when required by law. Optional iPhone advertising measurement relies on consent.

8. Retention

Local App data remains on your device until you remove it, subject to device backups. Service providers retain attribution, purchase, security, and technical information according to their settings and policies. We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably necessary for support, legal, or security purposes.

9. Your Rights and Data Deletion

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal data, and to receive a portable copy. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. To make a request, email [email protected].

To request deletion of Sober Since service-provider records, email [email protected] with the subject "Sober Since data deletion" and tell us whether you use iPhone or Android. For purchase-related records, include a store transaction reference if available; do not send your password, full payment details, or sobriety notes. We may need further information to locate and verify the relevant records because the App has no accounts.

We will review the request and arrange deletion of identifiable support and service-provider records where applicable. Records needed to meet tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or other legal obligations may be kept for the applicable legally required period. Deletion does not cancel a store subscription; manage that separately with Apple or Google. Local progress and exported backups remain under your control and must be deleted on your device or wherever you chose to save them.

If you are in the European Economic Area, you may lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. In Berlin, the competent authority is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

10. Adults Only

Sober Since is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

11. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App, Website, or legal requirements change. The current version will be posted here with an updated date.
